HABITAT for HUMANITY

Good Friday Walk:  By now, you will have seen reminders that the 25th Annual Good Friday Walk for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland is coming right up on Friday, April 22nd. Here’s the many ways you can be involved:

· Walk 3, 5, 10 or 20 miles, getting sponsors to support you in your efforts and Habitat in their work.  FMI or to register online: http://habitatportlandme.org.

· Sponsor walkers who will be “pounding the pavement”.

· Volunteer to work at the registration table, a way station, drive a TOE truck, provide food and refreshments for the walkers

· Work on site.

For more info, contact Kate Callahan, Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@habitatme.org

Remember, money raised goes toward construction of 6 Habitat projects under way in Westbrook or about to happen in Freeport! The excitement is building for 6 Habitat family partners! By walking or sponsoring, you can directly help make that dream a reality for families who will be partnering with Habitat to build their homes and will become no interest mortgage homeowners, paying taxes like you and me. Please join us in making this 25th annual walk an unprecedented success!

Habitat for Humanity RESTORE: ReStore is a place where individuals, businesses and companies can donate new and reusable building materials, cabinets and appliances which Habitat then sells for 50 to 80 percent of retail. Here’s an opportunity for you to buy discounted home repair supplies or to donate used materials …. and all will benefit the Habitat cause! ReStore, 83A Bell Street, Portland. Thursday and Friday, 10 to 6. For more info, call 221-0047

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating substandard housing throughout the world. Since its organization in 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland has built 43 simple, decent, affordable homes by using volunteer labor and donations of land, material and money. Our 43 homes, like all Habitat homes, were then sold to a partner family at cost by means of a no-interest, no-profit loan.
