Youth Ministry Mission Trip Planned

Then the righteous will answer him and say, “Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you? And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:37-40

Jesus tells us time and time again how important service to others is in leading a Christian life. A genuine commitment to others is ultimately a commitment to Christ. Our Sacred Heart Parish High School Youth Ministry Mission Group is striving to do this. We are making a commitment to serve others through a mission trip to York, PA on June 22-28 with The Group Work Camps Organization. We will be doing this mission work during their White Rose Week of Hope. Currently we have 7 youth and 4 adults in our group and we need to raise about $4,500.00 to make this a reality. Through donations and money collected through our bottle drive, we have already raised $950.00. We have paid our deposit to hold our spot for this trip so we now have approximately $400.00 left. We need to pay half of the balance owed ($2000) on March 15th and the other half is due in May.

Please give prayerful thought to what you can do to assist in this important mission work. We know that Sacred Heart has always been a generous and caring parish. We work together to do what we can to support our own parish, our Sister Parish in Haiti, and in serving others in need. Let’s make this dream of a mission trip a reality, and perhaps this can be the first of many mission trips for our High School Youth Ministry Group! It’s so important to show our teens that they can put their faith in action for all of God’s children!

You can help by participating in our on-going bottle drive. We also are hosting a spaghetti Supper on February 9th at 5:30 in the Sacred Heart Hall. Thank you!

Our youth are very active parish participants and many serve at the state level as well.
