Welcome to the Disciples in Mission
web page for Sacred Heart Parish!
Disciples in Mission is a
program based on small group faith sharing experiences. This program
is designed to bring our Sacred Heart/St. Jude community together,
strengthen our ties, and encourage us to share our faith experiences in a
way that is both meaningful to us and to all with whom we come into
contact.
Why does one person have faith and
another not?
Why is your faith strong one day, and
at another point you feel empty?
Do you struggle with questions like
these? Do you have a place you can voice these questions?
Disciples in Mission is a
3-phase program that will start with the Lenten season 2008.
Each week small groups will gather to
listen to the Word of God (readings from the up-coming weekend Masses) and
guided discussion will follow. We will pray with one another
and for one another as well as for our extended communities.
We may be moved to action that will hopefully show others who we are and
what is at the core of our beliefs.
Have you ever given any thought to our
Christian forefathers? .....the martyrs? ....the
saints? .....people who were persecuted for their beliefs?
If you were arrested today for
being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?
Please join us for our first phase of Disciples
in Mission. We will meet in parish homes, the rectory, parish
hall, at work.....wherever 2 or more are gathered in My Name, there am
I.
We will make every effort to provide
small groups that fit everyone's schedules and needs, so please take a
moment to sign up and share your preferences as to time and day and
whether you have any special needs that must be met in order to be able to
attend.
Do you know of anyone else that may
wish to participate? Please pass along this invitation.
All are welcome.
Can't make every session? Don't
worry. You are welcome to join in whatever capacity you are able to
participate. Please just let us know what the time constraints
may be so we can organize our groups in the most effective manner.
And please pray this prayer each day:
Loving God, open our hearts to
Jesus.
Give us the courage to speak His
name to those who are close to us and the generosity to share His love
with those who are far away.
We pray that every person in the
world be invited to know and love Jesus as Savior and Redeemer.
May we come to know His
tremendous love and may that love transform every part of our
society.
We ask this through Christ, Our
Lord. Amen.
