Prayer for a New Evangelization

Loving Father, Lord of heaven and earth, you gather us together to be your church in this time and place. Send your Spirit to be with us, and open our hearts to do your will. As we make this journey as a diocesan church, we trust that you will guide us along the way. Help us embrace this new evangelization with faith and love. May it empower us to recognize you and to bear witness to your presence in the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Prayer for Vocations

Loving God, How awesome are your ways!

Through your abundant love you bless us with gifts that can make our world holy and just.

Dwell deep in our hearts that we may know how to share these gifts.

Inspire many to respond generously to your call to service in the Church.

May the fire of your love direct us on our journey, that we may act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with you.

We give you the praise and honor now and forever. Amen

WEEKLY REFLECTION

We like to keep count of things: who owes us, points we have earned, etc. We even do this with our faith — how well have we followed the “rules” and maybe even how many indulgences have we earned. The truth is that such careful accounting is fruitless and even a distraction from what is truly important. We cannot “earn” salvation. This is a gift Jesus has given to us and we did not even ask for it! In light of this, why are we keeping count of what is owed to us and what we have earned?

Know that the Lord is God; He made us, His we are. — Psalm 100: 2
