Christopher and Elisabeth (Britton) Cieurzo.
CHRISTIAN INITIAtION (rcia)
Are you thinking of
becoming Catholic? Do you know someone who is interested in the Catholic
Church? The RCIA is meeting on Monday evenings at 6pm at Holy Martyrs
Church in Falmouth. Our cluster has begun a shared program in order to
provide a richer sharing of the faith.
Prayer for a New Evangelization
Loving Father, Lord of
heaven and earth, you gather us together to be your church in this
time and place. Send your Spirit to be with us, and open our hearts to
do your will. As we make this journey as a diocesan church, we trust
that you will guide us along the way. Help us embrace this new
evangelization with faith and love. May it empower us to recognize you
and to bear witness to your presence in the world. We ask this through
Christ our Lord. Amen
HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH MINISTRY

should give back to God gratefully.

Cluster Up-Date:
The Cluster Pastoral Council met on October 15th and began the process of
forming a new parish with four churches. After attempting to list all of
the matters that need to be addressed, it was decided that ministries,
programs and services are the core of a parish. Accordingly, over the next
month each of the churches will prepare a list of these endeavors. The
Council will then begin consideration of the means by which these can be
integrated in the new parish. It is recognized that some may be able to be
consolidated, and others would remain unique to a particular church. The
results of the survey will be helpful in examining these ministries and
programs and prioritizing their importance. Subsequently, the Council will
determine the people and resources required to maintain and enhance the
works. The cluster process requires consideration of the role and function
of two positions new to our present parishes: a Pastoral Life Coordinator
and a Business Manager. These positions and others would be described in
view of the priority of ministries and programs of the new parish. As this
work proceeds, the Council intends to consult as widely as possible. As I
consider this process, I think that our collaboration will enable us to
share the existing strengths of the four churches and to foster growth.
This is a challenging and exciting time. —–Fr. Joe Ford
The Sacred Heart Parish
bonfire and hayride was held
at Wolfe's Neck Farm on October 17th. It was a beautiful fall night and a
great time was had by all. As always, the Church and Family Life
Commission extends a big thank you to Jim DeGrandpre for making this event
possible. We hope to see even more families at next year's event.
Social Justice
& Peace: We Need
Your Help - In the next few months, the parish will be involved in several
outreach appeals. Please consider offering your help during the holiday
period.
Brown bag food
donations at Thanksgiving.
Parishioners can contribute food at St. Jude and Sacred Heart Churches on
November 15- 16. If you prefer to make a cash contribution, the parish
will use the money for gift certificates at local markets to buy
perishable food. Your brown bag contributions will be given to local food
pantries and will be offered to families in our own parish. Volunteers
will be needed to transfer the food from churches to pantries: Sacred
Heart on Monday, November 17 at 9 am; St. Jude on Tuesday, November l8 at
9 am.
Christmas Giving
Tree In late November -
early December, the parish will set up Giving Trees at both churches. They
will have gift tags for items needed by individuals and families of our
area. St. Jude Church contributions will go to the Freeport Community
Services and to residents at nursing homes. Sacred Heart Church will work
with Catholic Charities and its refugee-immigrant services as well as with
the Long Creek Youth Development Center. Again, cash donations will be
used to purchase last-minute gifts needs. Volunteers can help prepare tags
and trees, check lists or transfer presents to temporary storage in the
rectory. With your help, this appeal can work efficiently without
burdening any one person.
And a special
project: Food for Kennedy Park -
A parishioner has asked for help in a weekly delivery of food from
Hannaford/Yarmouth to Kennedy Park in Portland. Each Saturday morning, the
supermarket donates between 10 and 20 cartons of perishable food A pickup
truck or large van is needed to handle the volume. It is a two-hour
commitment. In Portland, the food is distributed to families in that
complex by the residents. Our task is simply to deliver the donation. One
or several Sacred Heart Parish volunteers with a truck(s) are needed to
make this Saturday morning delivery. The timeframe is January to March. If
there were several volunteers, it would be possible to divide the delivery
needs over the three months.
More information
can be obtained from the parish office (846-5584). Please consider helping
in whatever way you can. Let us know if you have a little extra time to be
involved in our parish work.
Let
us know relatives and friends in the military so we can honor them by
listing them in our bulletin on Veteran’s Day. Either e-mail the parish
office ewyatt@sheartparish.org
or call 846-5584.

St. Vincent’s Clothing
Collection:
Men’s Clothing for St. Vincent Program - At the present time, there is a
need for men’s clothing at the St. Vincent de Paul soup kitchen. Each
Friday, the volunteer staff displays donated clothing for the people who
come to the kitchen for a noonday meal. The clothing is distributed to men
and women facing hardship. In particular, there is a need for MEN’S
SHIRTS -- tee shirts, sweatshirts or regular shirts -- lightweight or
heavy. Please consider donating any extra items by dropping them off at
the church or office. They will be put to good use.
Music Ministry Notes
Want to
share your love of music or musical talents by participating in music
ministry, a hallmark of our parish? Here are a few ways that you can
become involved.
The Sacred
Heart Adult Choir will begin its upcoming season soon. New members
are always welcome! In addition to singing regularly at the 11:00 Mass at
Sacred Heart, the outreach piece of our mission takes us beyond the walls
of the church. In addition to singing at our church fairs and pancake
breakfasts with our friends from St. Jude, and musical visits to shut-ins
at local nursing care facilities and prisons, our outreach this past year
took us to other local parishes, the Yarmouth Clam Festival Interfaith
Service, and to St. Anne de Beaupre to sing at the 400th
anniversary of the City of Quebec. Our first rehearsal of the season is
planned for Wed. Sept. 10 at 7pm. If you are considering this ministry for
the first time, please stop by or feel free to call Ron Siviski, our
director, at 846-6020.
St. Jude
Choir: The
choir at St. Jude’s sings regularly at the 9:30 Mass and beyond the
sanctuary walls, as well. Our outreach is especially meaningful to us. If
you love to sing and want to have some fun, please join us! Rehearsals are
Sunday mornings at 8:00. If you would like to participate or need
information, please do not hesitate to contact Sharyl Webster at 865-9167.
Teen Choir:
Plans are underway to start this group again for our second season! If you
are a 7-12th grader, male or female, and would like to
participate or would like information, please contact Ron, our director
846-6020. Please watch for more announcements about our mid to late
September start date.
The 8:00
Choir: This
“Family Choir,” a group of singers of all ages, sings regularly at our
8:00 Mass at Sacred Heart. If you would like to sing with this group or
want more information, please call Phil at 829-5684, or stop by to see him
at the 8:00 Mass.
Cantor
Ministry: If
you have some singing ability and would like to explore this special
ministry as an option for yourself, please contact Ron Siviski at
846-6020.
Praise
Band: This
group hopes to expand its presence in the coming year at both worship
sites. If you would like more info or would like to participate, please
call John Leavitt (829-5114), Jay Moran (846-4745), or Ron.
Pennies From Heaven ?
Nope…..pennies from You!

Parish receives a penny. It doesn’t sound like much but if everyone uses
GoodSearch as their computer home page these pennies add up very fast.

imagine how many pennies we can collect if everyone who uses a computer
helps out. Did you know that you can also GoodSHOP? Many top retailers
such as Target, Home Depot, and Best Buy participate in this program and
will donate a percentage of the amount purchased to Sacred Heart Parish.
To get started, go to you internet page and click on the Tools Tab. Click
on Internet Options. In the General Tab Home page address type in http://goodsearch.com
and press apply and then the OK button. Click on the Home page button and
the GoodSearch powered by Yahoo has become your new homepage. Now just
type Sacred Heart Parish (Yarmouth, ME) under “Who do you GoodSearch for”
